C F
After three good years together we had our first fight.
                        C G7
So she went to her mother's and I went for a drive.
               C F
Down that old familiar highway just few miles out of town.
                                C G7
To that run-down, one-room tavern that used to be my
              C
     stompin' grounds.
     C
When I pulled into the driveway everything still looked the
     F C
same. And I couldn't wait to down a few and hear that
             G7 C
jukebox ring. But when I walked in through the doorway
                                     F
there stood some kind of maitre-d. and he looked me up and he
     C G7 C
looked me down and said, "Can I help you please?"

     And I said.
             C F
Chorus: What'd you do with those swingin' doors? And where's
                 C
the sawdust on the floor? Why's everybody wearin' them
     G7 C
suits and ties? From where I stand I can't believe my eyes.
                              F
And whose idea was it to hang these ferns? This brand-new bar
                  C G7
     don't have a single burn. I guess I'm somewhere that I don't
                                      F C
belong. I need a jukebox with a country song.
     C
When I looked back in the corner where the jukebox once stood
     F C
proud. Some clown was playin' records... to fast, to long
            G7 C
and to loud. Well it must've been a big mistake to try to
              F C
speak my mind. But as they were askin' me to leave, I cried
     G7 C
out one more time. Repeat Chorus:
     C G7 F
     I guess I don't belong without a jukebox and a country
     C
     song.
